Almeda Carmean Ondo, 97, passed peacefully on February 6, 2024, at Vancrest Nursing Home in Delphos.
She was born December 2, 1926, to Gordie and Agnes (Kohorst) Carmean of Delphos. She was a graduate of the class of 1945 of Delphos Jefferson.
On November 9, 1966, she married John Steve Ondo of Granville, West Virginia, who preceded her in death in 2015; after 49 years of marriage peacefully living near Elida, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her six brothers and sisters along with in-laws, Carl (Glenna) Carmean, Lee (Ursula) Carmean, Rita Suever, Patricia (Melvin) Johnson, and Gordon Carmean.
Almeda is survived by her son, John P. (Angel) Ondo who live in New Albany, Ohio, brother-in-law, Richard Suever; sister-in-law, Betty-Jo Carmean, both of Delphos; three grandchildren, Elaine, Julia & Alex, and two step-grandchildren, Abbey (Austin) Cavalancia and Zach Puderbaugh.
Almeda had worked at DWG Cigar Factory in Delphos and Lima, which is where she met her husband, John. She was an avid bowler, enjoyed cooking, baking, and loved to crochet. She also loved to read and garden. But her true love was her family and extended family.
A visitation with family and friends will be held Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at 6:00-8:30 p.m. at Harter & Schier Funeral Home in Delphos. A Celebration of life will be held Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Harter & Schier Funeral Home followed by burial in Kings Cemetery in Middle Point. Pastor Mark Bayliff will officiate.
